Voting for Eric Preven and Patrice Berlin

We found new information today posted at: http://empowerla.org/elections/qualify/#studiocity that appears more in line with the Draft documents Steven Box Director of Outreach and Communication
Senior Project Coordinator at EmpowerLA provided a candidate…which is different than the incomplete document found by following the links posted on the Studio City Neighborhood Council Website and different than the information printed on a Studio City Neighborhood Council flyer.

WE suggest running with these…at least for now.

If you have ANY issue registering and/or voting using the information below please contact us at reply@ourstudiocity.org with your experiences. We are compiling a list of complaints and will be forwarding them to EmpowerLA.

In order to vote in Studio City, you’ll need to establish two things, either by submitting supporting documentation online or bringing it to the polls:

1) your identity and
2) the relationship(s) you have to a neighborhood that qualifies you to vote there.

Accepted documents vary according to the nature of your local involvement, but whatever you submit should *always* show your name. In addition, whatever document you provide to establish your relationship to the Studio City area must show a qualifying address that lies within the NC boundaries. (Please note that a PO box is *not* considered a valid address.) For some ballot types, a single document may be enough to substantiate both your identity and the address that qualifies you for that ballot.
There are seven different voter categories in Studio City’s elections this year, each defined by a particular type of relationship between a voter and the community. With the exception of Youth voters, who may only vote for the Youth seat, it is possible for voters aged 18+ to qualify for more than one ballot – in fact, they may qualify for up to 5, so long as correct documentation is submitted for each. Click the tabs below to see a list of qualifying documents and other specifications for each voter type.

Employees/Independent Contractors

Voters in this category must legally provide goods or services for compensation in the Studio City NC area. However, unlike Business voters, Employee/Independent Contractor voters do not need to maintain a City business license, and the compensation they receive is reported on IRS Forms W2 or 1099. Must be 18+ on Election Day.

Documents to provide:
IDENTITY: valid photo ID – such as CA driver’s license; CA ID card; or passport. A picture ID with your name from work, school, gym, club or a photo credit card is also acceptable.

QUALIFICATION: proof you are employed or conduct an independent contractor business at a Studio City address, such as:

current W2 or 1099
project/job contract or service agreement
work permit
letter from employer on business letterhead (see sample letter below)
personal business card with your name + business name/address
staff roster showing your name
current business mail with your name/business name/business address
pay stub or paycheck
business lease or rental agreement
business rental receipt
billing statements from vendors
printed advertisement or business webpage (showing both your name as employee or independent contractor + local address)
letter from local Business Improvement District or Chamber of Commerce (see a sample letter below)

OurStudioCity.org is here to inform and empower residents. Let’s make local government more responsive to local needs. OurStudioCity.org comes from a group of residents fed up with a group of Studio City “elite” making backroom decisions benefiting THEM and not US. OurStudioCity.org is dedicated to sharing vital local information. We will speak the truth no matter how unpleasant it is. OurStudioCity.org will strive to inform. A repository of information. Want to know more about the Harvard Westlake Project? Sportsmen’s Landing Project? Weddington Golf and Tennis? Mansionization? New developments coming to our neighborhood? A place to ask questions, get answers and share what you know. Get informed prior to attending a Neighborhood Council or Residents Association meeting. Come prepared with probing questions for our SCNC and SCRA representatives.
