After the SCNC Governing Board was squelched no less than three times by the City Attorney’s Office, an L.A. activist is now asking the same pesky questions about former SCNC Boardmember, Jane Drucker’s, signature landing on a sworn statement authored by stakeholder, James Kellem.

Those “witness statements,” initially cited as key evidence in disqualifying the prevailing SCNC election candidates, Patrice Berlin and Eric Preven, were packaged by stakeholder cum election-challenger–Lisa Sarkin’s good friend— Stuart ’Stu’  Miller.

After a second hearing of a “non-appeallable” process, Berlin and Preven were reinstated, which meant Sarkin didn’t get her old board seat back.  Given her numerous appearances down at City Hall railing about this to anyone who’ll listen, she appears to be mad!

SCNC attempted numerous times to formally request, someone, anyone to investigate whether the “evidence” was fraudulently doctored or indeed perjured.  Or..

Of course, the City Attorney who created the flawed process thinks it’s a bad idea for the SCNC to even discuss it.  Ever.  Again.  Perhaps Jane Drucker will come forward and explain how her signature got on James Kellem’s witness statement?

  • EVERYTHING about the SCNC election was mismanaged. Online Voting = Epic Fail. DONE allowed then President, Lisa Sarkin, also up for reelection to manage the election outreach and logistics. Think she was objective in those duties? Ballot candidates were allowed to “work” the polls. TWO CANDIDATES, Rita Villa (a current board member) and Rudy Melendez actually SIGNED OFF ON THE FIRST CANVASS OF VOTES. Who will take an NC election seriously (or the NC itself) with a process this defective?

Topping this fiasco DONE convenes a Panel that tosses due process out the window and allows two candidates to be falsely accused with bogus evidence. They weren’t even allowed to speak in their own defense – criminals are granted more rights! The accuser “Grievant” packaged up “evidence” and acted as a prosecutor. If the absurdity of this process wasn’t called out, Lisa Sarkin would have “won” the seat she lost. Law term: “Qui bono.” No one explained this concept to the “Panel” who initially stripped away the election from two candidates and publicly shamed them.

SCNC has tried to ask that someone, anyone PLEASE investigate how a SWORN witness statement had someone else’s signature on it! The City Attorney has blocked SCNC from addressing it at least three times, with their last instruction to never discuss the matter again, ever! It seems the City Attorney wants this issue–and his horrible, more than likely unconstitutional/illegal policy to just go away. Why DONE is allowed to manage anything after 15 years of gross mismanagement is beyond me.

Ms. Berlin and Mr. Previn should be asking what Ray Donvan (Reagan Sec of Labor) asked after being cleared of fraud charges: Which office do I go to to get my reputation back?
